How Does Life Coaching Work?

Life Coaching = an action-oriented approach to mental health. Coaching methods are rooted in positive psychology, sports psychology, goal-setting identity, and organizational development.

Life Coaching is a professional-level exchange and conversation as you figure out who you are, what you want, and how you can get there - accepting all the different versions of you, examining your life habits and your word use towards yourself, and realizing you can change whatever you want to change for the better. As a Coach, I am a guide who is exterior and objective but invested in enabling you to find solutions, to interpret a situation in different ways, and to ask yourself the right questions.

Life Coaching is a holistic approach to your mental health, meaning that we look at what’s beyond the symptoms. I aim for a 360-degree view of your mental health, which is why I may ask about different areas of your life and how we can find solutions to improve them (home and family/relationships, work/career, emotional/intellectual/creative spaces, and body/nutrition).  I am also here to hold you accountable to yourself, gently making sure that you are being consistent in your goals and motivations.

Explore who you truly are on a deep level. Take action for your growth and discover your treasures within.

I can guarantee empathy: during a depression of my own, I started to run, meditate, sing, dance, practice yoga, learn breathing exercises, spend more time in nature, read more of what I wanted to read, and to see a therapist. Curious how these activities were improving my mental health - because they were - I started reading about the benefits of these activities and their impact on our brain, releasing endorphins, regulating the nervous system, increasing the brain's grey matter, enhancing memory, decreasing anxiety - and improving relationships with others and yourself. In my sessions, I make sure to explain how these activities positively affect your brain. (For example, 15 to 20 minutes of exercise a day can become the equivalent of a 25 mg antidepressant.)

Let’s get to know each other and see how I can support you! Book your discovery call here. During our time together I will always be honest with you and make sure that we have a great exchange so that you can take away as much as possible from our sessions. I am excited to hear your story :)

As a coach, I have been trained by JRNI to actively listen to the adjectives/words you use and ask you questions to dig deeper into who you are and what you want out of life.

My approach as a coach is different because:

I am certified by JRNI in Neuroplasticity, Positive Psychology, understanding trauma, person-centered theory, the art of questioning, and relationship coaching.

I also offer Hypnotherapy (change of behavior, trauma, and physical pain) as well Yoga (Hatha Yoga for adults, Trauma-Conscious Yoga, and Children's Yoga).

I accompany my clients on the following topics:

  • Imposter syndrome

  • Self-confidence

  • Preventing burnout

  • Finding a sense of purpose

  • Enhancing self-love

  • Anxiety

  • Establishing healthy routines

I love mapping the treasure hunt so you can dig up the treasures within yourself and show it to the world.

While I am an empath and I am spiritual, I incorporate scientific knowledge into my sessions by explaining what is going on in your brain to destigmatize your trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, stress or anything else you have been through emotionally.

In our sessions, I will

1. Assist you in hearing yourself out loud and identify patterns that lead you to where you are right now; I will also explain to you what is going on in your brain.

2. Guide you to see your own potential/strengths so you can accomplish your goals. We will set new goals for yourself for which I am here to hold you accountable.

3. Provide you with solutions (including anxiety-reducing techniques/exercises to relax/know yourself better) and encourage you to take action in all different areas of your life.

My aim is to energize mind and body by co-constructing the understanding that you have limitless opportunities to create a better future.

Differences between Life Coaching & Therapy:

You can see a coach & therapist simultaneously or consecutively. Sometimes, we need different experts at different stages in our life. For example, you process your trauma with your therapist and then work with your coach on the remaining anxieties you have as well as positive goals for your well-being. Further examples in the chart below.

Nota bene: Coaching is not therapy or a replacement for therapy. Our job as coaches is to guide your self-discovery: you do the introspection and take resulting action.

Life Coaching

A coach works with you on your present & future.

You can seek Life Coaching when you have worked on most of your trauma and issues but wish to work on what’s still troubling you; eg. social anxiety, fear of judgment, lack of confidence / self-esteem / self-love, and other fears that are blocking you from your dream job / relationship/best version of yourself. To get a better understanding of when to see a life coach read here.

A coach shares their story in relation to a point you make.

A coach is trained to listen, motivates, and encourages you to take action in your life to achieve your goals.

Therapy

A therapist works with you on processing your past.

You should seek therapy when you haven’t yet worked on your trauma and issues that therapists deal with, such as ADHD, abandonment, abortion, academic concerns, addictions, aggression, violence, and other issues/mental disorders see here.

A therapist cannot share their personal life with you.

A therapist is trained to listen to you & can diagnose you with different mental disorders.
